In early April, SUMEC-ITC, affiliated to SUMEC Group Corporation ("SUMEC"), signed a new import contract for 33,000 tons of agricultural products from Kazakhstan, consisting of 25,000t of wheat, 4,000t of barley and 4,000t of wheat flour to be transported by a total of 20 freight trains. This effort plays a crucial role in serving and safeguarding the grain security of China and boosting the high-quality development of the "Belt and Road Initiative" (BRI).
These products will be delivered from Kazakhstan, the first stop of the BRI, through China-Europe Railway Express via Horgos and Dzungarian Gate to China's Sichuan, Chongqing, Henan, Shandong, Zhejiang and other places.
In recent years, SUMEC-ITC has put more efforts into exploring markets along the BRI, taken active part in planning business in the supply chain of agricultural products, and probed into new business patterns, such as import and processing of goods in bonded zones. Besides, it has facilitated the connection between upstream and downstream companies in the industrial chain and the supply chain, and strove to safeguard China’s grain security as well as the stable and secure supply of important agricultural products. All these endeavors demonstrate the great sense of responsibility of SUMEC-ITC as a centrally-managed enterprise.
With a focus on meeting the needs of industrial clients at the end of the chain, SUMEC-ITC has consistently adopted a "client-first" approach. By staying abreast of industry trends and exploring new types and domains, the company continuously enhances its market and commodity structure. These efforts allow SUMEC-ITC to actively establish stable and reliable overseas resource supply matrices. At present, SUMEC-ITC has successfully developed many agricultural products, including corn, sorghum, barley, wheat and wheat flour, and pea. This year, it has signed contracts for a total of over 50,000t of agricultural products under the BRI.
